Granola

This recipe is from my daughter Kirsten’s hippie life in Colorado in the 1970s.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup canola oil (I use less-½ cup)
  • ½ - 1 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2 cups cashews or any nuts you prefer
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 1 cup chopped apricots

Combine all ingredients except dried fruit in a large bowl.

Spread on a baking sheet.

Bake at 325° until toasted about 20 minutes or until nicely browned, watch closely.

When cool, add fruit.

Store in tight containers. I freeze it and use it as we need it.

Fay doesn’t love raisins so I leave the fruit out.
